Thoughts about .111 patch.

With the new patch being released I thought i'd express my opinion about it.

I looked over the ryze nerf the other day and it blew me away. The lengths riot went to to turn a balanced and fair champion into a weak "Spell Machine Gun" as they called him were amazing. If only so much effort would be put into magma chamber we'd have it by now.
They turned a low-CD nuker into an extremly low CD poker. His Q is very weak now, his spell flux is useless and his cage still the only utillity he has and even that's been weakened. He's now useless in 8 second team fights since he has to spam click his Q abillity to even dish out any sort of damage (400 per cast not including magres).

Some people said recently that he makes up for it with his new spell vamp ultimate. I ask those people, what good is spellvamp without any damage?


On the same matter, the anivia nerf has people troubeled. I really don't see why it's such a big nerf. They fixed the stun counter and effectivley increased it by another 0.25 seconds, and now it costs alittle more mana to insta stun people with frostbite. The problem here is her mana, and I can relate to how frustrating it is, but Anivia simply just became a "Get Clarity or tons of mana reg items" champ. You'll probably not experience this problem with anivia after level 9 anyway (assuming you managed to get Archangel's by then) so those 20 minutes to reach level 9 that really don't involve that much can't be anything clarity can't handle.


Maokai is the new tank/support champ. He's not really that supportive except for his 25 second wards. I'd consider him more of a Caster Tank. Like nunu. All his skills revolve around AP, so getting RoA, Deathcap and Void Staff can't be bad ideas. I'm not saying play him as a caster cuz you'll be missing the point of the champ, but build him like you'd build nunu, high AP and 200~ armor and mag res.

Anivia needs Rod of Ages because she is really squishy...

Guess I have a choice to make, because I can't do damage when I'm dead and I can't do damage when I'm out of mana.

I normally get it to secure me not being mega squishy, only very Wink

Nice stats and a nice chunk of survivability is always good Smile

Well, IF the ryze changes were the same except his spell vame beignt like the old one ( with i think +80 or 100 AP lvl 3? ) and his mana passive it would be an okay champ.

But then again, as i said the soon as i saw they were changing it:

"Why? Why change a balance champ? He is not the best nuker but not the worst, and deals/wins team fights with his spammable abilities due to his passive, so why change him? Alistar gets no love? o0 "

So now that he has been " nerfed " im yet to see his use now. and also, im yet to see what buff will he recieve next patch :p

Ryze does more damage you fool!

He casts more in the short space of time between attacks, build him CDR AP Archangels (one in there) and see.

His spells do do less damage each, but they are more often, and cheaper to cast.

He is not an early-midgame caster, but an endgame carry like ashe / tristana.

although i do wonder why they gave him spellvamp


Moakai has decent AP ratios, consider building him as a caster instead of a tank.

The anivia "nerf" was a hit to her ult and frostbite combo (which she needed, mind) and a boost to prolonged periods of the ult, if you have it on for more than 5 seconds then it is cheaper than the old one.

Alistar is getting changed. The new skin might be a sign of things to come... or a mean trick from riot staff after releasing some supposed ideas for change.

Seriously, Ryze got a buff btw; his spells do LESS DAMAGE, but he casts them a LOT faster. So yeah, think of it like this...

130 damage
1.8 sec
130 damage
1.8 sec

&

20% of total mana (try an archangels & manamune build, call me crazy but you want to maximise your mana then a few roa...)

if you think about it, in 16 seconds, you can deal 100% of your mana in damage, excluding your W and E etc... just using overload with 40% reduction.

instead of full on AP, try full on Mana with a little AP sprinkled around the sides.

Yes dave, i didn't say it was a nerf or a buff.
But he was good the way he was, and i get what ur saying with your cdr mana etc..but still why did they do that to his ult?
Now the ap rise from his ex ult would be a blast.
Seeing that we now have to mass mana, and cdr so no time/money for mass ap so his ult would boost it a bit

But thats just an opinion..

Tried out that build, so fun. I was late to a teamfight at the top turret, with 3 people being on low HP. I killed Xin and then ran away from MF. She kept searching me on the bushes and I got her from half to no HP. Then, when I had really low HP, Kassadin with half HP went for me. Thanks to the lizard buff, I killed him but I died too. I kinda died first, my spell flux bounce got him.

My second game too, I'm hoping to get better.

Note: Their team wasn't full of noobs, we were pretty even.
